Vietnam: Conduct visibility monitoring 4 times a day under normal conditions

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam issued Circular 08/2020/TT-BTNMT stipulating technical regulations on oceanographic monitoring methods.

The frequency of visibility monitoring in Vietnam is stipulated in Circular 08/2020/TT-BTNMT as follows:

- Monitoring will be conducted 4 times/day at the times of 1:00, 7:00, 13:00, and 19:00;

- Under the conditions of dangerous weather at sea, continuous monitorings are conducted every 1 hour;

- In addition to the monitoring frequency as regulated above, depending on the demand, the competent authority in Vietnam decides to supplement the monitoring frequency;

- For automatic monitoring: automatic measurement and data transmission shall be conducted 24 times/day or according to usage needs.

Note: The monitoring location must meet the following requirements: have a clear view toward the sea; be convenient and safe for monitoring; and ensure long-term monitoring.
