The Prime Minister has just signed a decision to promulgate Decision 03/2020/QD-TTg on forecasting, warning, and transmitting information about natural disasters.
This Decision clearly stipulates that there are 8 types of natural disasters to be forecasted, warned about, and communicated, specifically including:
- Storms, tropical depressions in the East Sea and on Vietnamese mainland;- Storms, tropical depressions outside the East Sea but likely to move into the East Sea within the next 24 – 48 hours;- Heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, landslides on Vietnamese territory;- Heat waves, droughts, and saltwater intrusion;- Earthquakes with a magnitude equal to or greater than 3.5 Richter affecting Vietnam.- Earthquakes with a magnitude over 6.5 Richter occurring at sea with potential impacts on Vietnam.- Tsunamis due to offshore earthquakes, potentially affecting Vietnam.- Other natural disasters, including whirlwinds, lightning, hailstorms, cold spells, frost, dense fog, strong winds at sea, land subsidence due to heavy rain or runoff, water surges not caused by tropical depressions or storms, and other types of natural disasters occurring on Vietnamese territory.
