The Ministry of Health has just signed Decision No. 6858/QD-BYT on the promulgation of the set of quality criteria for Vietnamese hospitals.

Vietnam's Hospital Quality Criteria include 83 quality criteria, applied in the assessment, certification, and improvement of quality for both state and private hospitals.

The hospital quality criteria serve as tools for:

- Hospitals performing self-assessment of quality according to Article 8 of Circular 19/2013/TT-BYT;- Inspection teams from the regulatory authorities conducting periodic or unscheduled quality assessments of hospitals;- Independent quality assessment units conducting assessments and certifications of quality in accordance with Articles 50 and 51 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2009, and Articles 10 and 11 of Decree 87/2011/ND-CP.
