Plan for Adjusting Land Use Planning in Ho Chi Minh City until 2020

The Government of Vietnam has approved the adjustment of the land use planning until 2020 and the final period land use plan (2016 - 2020) of Ho Chi Minh City in Resolution 80/NQ-CP.

By 2020, the land structure area in Ho Chi Minh City includes 88,005 hectares of agricultural land, accounting for 42.1%; non-agricultural land is 118,890 hectares, accounting for 56.9%; unused land is 309 hectares, accounting for 0.1%; high-tech industrial park land is 913 hectares, accounting for 0.4%; and urban land is 62,704 hectares, accounting for 30%.

Based on the Resolution, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for delineating boundaries and publicizing the area of rice cultivation land, protection forest, and special-use forest that need strict protection; implementing appropriate policies and measures to reduce production costs and increase income so that rice growers can feel secure in their production.

At the same time, increasing investment in social infrastructure and technical infrastructure to ensure uniformity and coherence among areas.
