On December 30, 2016, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 46/2016/TT-BYT on the list of diseases requiring prolonged treatment.
Issued together with this Circular is a list of 332 diseases requiring long-term treatment (the current regulation in Appendix 1 attached to Circular 14/2016/TT-BYT includes 192 diseases).
The list of diseases requiring long-term treatment serves as the basis for implementing policies and benefits for workers according to the provisions of the Law on Social Insurance.
The disease codes and names in the list of diseases requiring long-term treatment are defined as follows:
- The diseases in the list are assigned codes according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) with 3 and 4 character codes (including numbers and letters). Diseases with 4 character codes belong to the group of diseases with 3 character codes.- Some diseases that have not been assigned codes according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) then use the names determined by the disease diagnosis.
Circular 46/2016/TT-BYT takes effect from March 1, 2017, repealing Appendix I on the list of diseases requiring long-term treatment issued together with Circular 14/2016/TT-BYT.
