Circular 04/2023/TT-BNNPTNT dated August 15, 2023, on the list of living things subject to plant quarantine in Vietnam issued by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

List of living things subject to plant quarantine in Vietnam from September 29, 2023

To be specific:, there are a total of 117 objects subject to plant quarantine in Vietnam, divided into 02 groups as follows:

- Group I: Harmful organisms that pose a serious risk to plants, not yet present in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

+ Insects: 62 objects, with the addition of two objects “Caribbean fruit fly – Scientific name: Anastrepha suspensa (Loew)” and “Glabrum skin beetle – Scientific name: Trogoderma glabrum (Herbst)” compared to the previous list.

+ Mites: 03 objects

+ Fungi: 18 objects, with the addition of 03 objects to the plant quarantine list of Vietnam including:

(i) Onion rot disease – Scientific name: Ciborinia allii (Sawada) Kohn

(ii) Soybean root rot disease – Scientific name: Phytophthora sojae Kaufmann et Gerdemann

(iii) Chrysanthemum leaf spot disease – Scientific name: Stagonosporopsis chrysanthemi (F. Stevens) P.W. Crous, N. Vaghefi & P.W.J. Taylor

And the removal of “Loose smut of wheat – Scientific name: Tilletia indica Mitra” from the list.

+ Bacteria: 04 objects

+ Virus, Viroid: 05 objects, with the addition of “Tomato brown rugose fruit virus – Scientific name: Tomato brown rugose fruit virus” to the list.

+ Nematodes: 14 objects, with the addition of “Banana root lesion nematode – Scientific name: Pratylenchus goodeyi Sher & Allen” to the list.

+ Weeds: 06 objects, with the removal of “Canada thistle – Scientific name: Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop.” from the list.

- Group II: Harmful organisms that pose a serious risk to plants, narrowly distributed in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

+ Insects: 01 object

+ Nematodes: 01 object

+ Weeds: 03 objects, with the removal of “Chinese dodder – Scientific name: Cuscuta chinensis Lam.” from the list.

Additionally, the “Peanut stripe virus – Scientific name: Peanut stripe virus” is also removed from Group II of the plant quarantine list compared to Circular 35/2014/TT-BNNPTNT.

Circular 35/2014/TT-BNNPTNT takes effect in Vietnam from September 29, 2023 and replaces Circular 35/2014/TT-BNNPTNT.
