Laboratory Technician Authorized to Sign Test Results

This is a notable new content in Circular 49/2018/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on December 28, 2018, providing guidance on testing activities in medical examination and treatment.

Laboratory technicians holding a university degree or higher, in addition to performing tasks as specified by current regulations, are also responsible for signing laboratory results within their assigned scope, as well as performing the following duties:

- Rechecking laboratory results within the assigned scope;- Participating in consultations and mortality discussions when requested;- Providing technical support and managing quality control for subordinate levels;- Participating in shifts as assigned by the head of the department;- Preparing instruments and consumables for laboratory activities;- Performing tasks according to Article 10 of the Joint Circular 26/2015/TTLT-BYT-BNV.

Refer to Circular 49/2018/TT-BYT effective from March 15, 2019, which annuls items 17, 26, 39, 40, 41, 45, 56, and 69 in Decision 1895/1997/QD-BYT dated September 19, 1997.
