Hanoi-Vietnam: Promulgation of the Vietnamese language curriculum for overseas Vietnamese

The Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular 28/2018/TT-BGDDT to promulgate the Vietnamese language curriculum for overseas Vietnamese.

This Vietnamese language curriculum applies to all educational institutions that teach Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese with an aim to meet the Vietnamese learning needs of the overseas Vietnamese community.

The Curriculum is designed according to 3 levels, 6 stages in ascending order as follows: stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, stage 4, stage 5, and stage 6. Hours of study of each stage are 220 hours. Total hours of study of the Curriculum are 1320 hours.

Each stage will have several modules (group of lessons), such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, divided by topics, and a review and assessment test. The assessment can be conducted using multiple-choice methods, written essays, or self-assessment by the learner.
