The Ministry of Home Affairs has just signed Decision 972/QD-BNV approving the Charter (amended and supplemented) of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.

Consisting of 8 chapters and 34 articles (previously 35 articles), the Charter was adopted by the 5th National Congress (term 2016 - 2021) of the Association on November 08, 2016, with some new contents as follows:

- The Association of the Elderly is subject to the management of the Ministry of Home Affairs; and the state management of the sector and main activities by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant Ministries and agencies;- October every year is the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam;- The organizational structure of the Association includes:- Vietnam Association of the Elderly:- National Representative Congress;- Executive Committee;- Inspection Committee;- Standing Committee;- Offices and specialized agencies and legal entities under the Association;- At provincial and district levels:- Provincial and district Representative Committee of the Association of the Elderly;- Pilot provincial and district Association of the Elderly in 13 provinces;- Local Association of the Elderly;- Sub-association, branch of the Association of the Elderly belonging to the local Association of the Elderly.

The Charter of the Association of the Elderly was issued together with Decision 972/QD-BNV and has been effective since March 24, 2017.
