Vietnam: Only 6 subjects are required to have construction practice certificates from 2021

According to Clause 53 Article 1 of the Law on amendments to Construction Law 2020 of Vietnam, 06 holders of titles and individuals practicing construction activities who are required to possess practice certificates include:

- Construction investment project managers;

- Construction planning design managers;

- Construction survey managers;

- Construction design or design verification managers;

- Construction supervision consultants;

- Managers in charge of formulating, verifying and managing construction investment costs.

In comparison with the previous provision, according to Clause 3 Article 148 of the Construction Law 2014 of Vietnam, there are 9 holders of titles and individuals independently practicing construction activities who are required to possess practice certificates include:

- Labor safety supervisor;

- Project manager, individual personally participating in project management;

- Construction planning design manager;

- Construction survey manager;

- Construction design or design verification manager;

- Site chief commander;

- Construction supervisor;

- Construction appraiser;

- Construction valuator. 

It can be seen that the new provision of the Law on amendments to Construction Law 2020 of Vietnam has annulled 4 following titles: Labor safety supervisor; Site chief commander; Construction appraiser and Construction valuator.

Thus, when the Law on amendments to Construction Law 2020 of Vietnam officially takes effect on January 01, 2021, only 6 subjects are required to have construction practice certificates.
