1. Subjects granted officer identification cards in Vietnam
According to Article 2 of Decree 130/2008/ND-CP regulating officer identification cards issued to people awarded the rank of active duty officer, including: Graduates of officer training and those appointed to officer positions are awarded the rank of officer.
2. Validity period of officer identification card in Vietnam
The validity period of the officer's identification card according to Clause 1, Article 14 of Circular 218/2016/TT-BQP is as follows:
(1) The term of use for general and colonel officers is 08 years;
(2) The term of service for lieutenant officers is 13 years;
(3) In cases where the active duty service period is less than the period specified in (1) and (2) of this section, the remaining age limit will be used to issue a certificate, but not more than 05 years stipulated in Article 13 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army:
- Lieutenant rank: 46 men, 46 women;
- Major: male 48, female 48;
- Lieutenant colonel: 51 men, 51 women;
- Lieutenant Colonel: male 54, female 54;
- Colonel: male 57, female 55;
- General level: male 60, female 55.
3. What is the information on the Officer Identification Card in Vietnam?
Information on the officer's identification card according to Clause 1 and Clause 2, Article 17 of Circular 218/2016/TT-BQP is as follows:
* Front of Officer's ID card:
- Number: Is the officer's number consisting of 8 digits;
- Full name: Write the last name, middle initial, and first name according to the birth certificate, capital letters, and complete accents;
- Rank: Second lieutenant to captain; write lieutenant rank; For colonel and general, record the current officer rank;
- Issuing unit: general officer identification card, written by the Ministry of National Defense; identification card for officers of the rank of colonel or lieutenant stating the name of the unit under the Ministry of National Defense;
- Date, month, and year: Record the date, month, and year of the issuance of the officer's identification card;
- Photos: Quantity of 02 photos, size 20 mm x 27 mm; no hats, no glasses; active duty officers and reserve officers; professional soldiers on active duty and professional soldiers in reserve;
Non-commissioned officers, active-duty soldiers, and non-commissioned officers and reserve soldiers wear regular military uniforms in accordance with orders; defense workers and officials wear regular clothes.
- Expiry date: Specified in Section 3.
* Back of officer's ID card:
- Date, month, and year of birth: Record according to the birth certificate;
- Ethnicity: Enter the name of the ethnicity according to the provisions of the law;
- Hometown: Write commune, ward, town; districts, districts, towns, and cities of the province; provinces / cities under central;

4. Temporarily withhold the officer identification card in Vietnam
Temporarily withhold the officer identification card according to Article 11 of Circular 218/2016/TT-BQP is as follows:
- Detained officers Prove that during the period of being detained, detained, or serving a prison sentence.
- During the time an officer's ID is temporarily detained, the agency that temporarily holds the ID card allows the officer to use his/her ID card to perform transactions according to the provisions of the law.
- Officers will have their Certificates returned upon expiration of their temporary detention, temporary detention, or completion of their prison sentence if they continue to serve in the standing force of the People's Army.
