On August 17, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch No. 3745/BGDDT-GDCTHSSV providing guidance on organizing certain activities at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.
Certain activities at the beginning of the academic year for educational institutions are guided by the Ministry of Education and Training as follows:
Welcoming new students
- Organize activities to welcome new students such as: class meetings to introduce and get acquainted with teachers and friends, and welcome events for new students;- Facilitate students' quick integration into the new learning and training environment through guidance, assistance, and friendly interactions among peers and teachers through games, group activities, and exchanges between first-year students and upperclassmen.
Organizing school orientation activities
- Learn about the school's traditions, vision, and mission; organizational structure, management staff, teachers, and employees; understand the school rules, examination, evaluation, student ranking regarding academic performance and conduct, and other school regulations;- Familiarize with the school's infrastructure, learning equipment, playing materials, classroom locations, subject rooms, library, information and communication technology system, traditional room, playground, sports field, dining hall, hostel (if any), water and sanitation facilities, uniforms, and student learning tools;- Guide students in decorating classrooms, maintaining and protecting facilities serving school activities, and preserving books and learning tools.
Understanding the education program
- Organize activities to help students understand the educational purposes, requirements, curriculum, learning and training methods in school, and gradually approach the content, methods, and forms of teaching subjects/educational activities in a positive, proactive, and confident manner;- Introduce textbooks and reference materials to inspire a love and interest in the subjects among students.
Guidance on participating in school and extracurricular activities
- Publicize the purpose and significance of the Opening Ceremony and the National Flag Salute Ceremony; guide students to sing the National Anthem, Youth Union song, and Team song correctly in tune and lyrics to perform at ceremonies with enthusiasm, patriotism, and national pride typical of Vietnamese youth;- Guide students to practice morning exercises, mid-session exercises, and fatigue-relief exercises as regulated. Maintain the habit of practicing these exercises regularly throughout the school year;- Organize activities for students to learn about the school’s landscape and friendly environment, and guide students to protect the environment;- Organize clean-up activities for the school and classroom environment;- Learn about, take care of, and promote the value of local historical, cultural, and revolutionary relics;- Introduce various forms and regulations and encourage students to participate in school clubs, forums, Youth Union activities, Association activities, Team activities, etc.
