Guidance on survey of employment of university graduates in Vietnam

According to Official Dispatch 2919/BGDDT-GDDH recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, to standardize and enhance the effectiveness of survey of employment from 2017 for graduates of 2016 and subsequent years, the Ministry guides universities, colleges, and intermediate schools to conduct surveys according to the following requirements:

No. Survey Requirements Content
1 Survey Scope Full-time students and graduates from universities, academies, pedagogical colleges, and intermediate pedagogical schools.
2 Survey Subjects Employment of full-time students who obtained their first degree at the undergraduate level, pedagogical college, and intermediate pedagogical school of the immediately preceding academic year, within 12 months from graduation, according to each training discipline.
3 Survey Process, Methods, and Tools Interviews, Emails, online, intermediaries, phone calls, or sending documents via postal mail, etc.
4 Survey Samples Random selection among graduates according to training disciplines, ensuring representation of the graduate population in terms of regions, gender, age, etc.
5 Survey Outcomes - The number of surveyed graduates providing feedback must be within the selected survey sample;


- Ensuring the minimum response rate as prescribed;


- If the feedback rate is not achieved, the training institution's report is considered unsatisfactory.
6 Others - Data processing of survey results and statistics must be scientifically based and evidenced;


- After each survey, analysis and recommendations for improvements in the survey process for graduate employment and proposals for innovating training program content and methods should be made.


- Training institutions are required to produce annual graduate survey reports.


- Survey reports must be sent to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), publicly posted on the institution's website, and included in the annual enrollment project of the training institution.
