On July 10, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Circular 07/2018/TT-BNNPTNT stipulating the inspection of impurities in shrimp and shrimp products.
Circular 07 stipulates which agencies have the authority to inspect impurities in shrimp and shrimp products, including:
- Inspection agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development include: The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Quality Management for Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Products.- Local inspection agencies include: The Inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sub-department of Quality Management for Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Products; other specialized agencies as assigned by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to Circular 07, the inspection work is carried out as follows:
- Regular inspections: Inspect compliance with regulations on control and prevention of impurities in shrimp, combined with inspection and evaluation of conditions ensuring food safety and inspection, certification of export consignments of establishments, and inspection certificating export aquatic consignments.- Unexpected inspections: Inspections are conducted when there is information of violations. Violation information on impurities is collected from sources such as denunciations by organizations, individuals, information from the police, information on impurity control results in shrimp by functional agencies, and warnings from importing countries.
