What standards are required to become a member of the Ethics Council?

Circular 45/2017/TT-BYT was issued by the Ministry of Health on November 16, 2017, detailing the specific standards required to become a member of the Ethics Council.

Circular 45 stipulates that members of the Ethics Council must meet the following standards:

- Have the necessary experience, knowledge, skills, and relevant capabilities to perform the duties of a member in order to protect the rights of research subjects and researchers.- Members with expertise in the health sector and members with expertise in legal and/or ethical issues must have a university degree or higher.- Have available time to participate in the tasks of the Ethics Council.- Fully disclose their name, occupation, and affiliations with research sponsors.- Commit to maintaining the confidentiality of information related to research, discussions in meetings, trade secrets of individuals and organizations participating in the research, or personal information about research participants.- Hold a training certificate in Good Clinical Practice and the Standard Operating Procedures of the Ethics Council issued by the Ministry of Health or organizations recognized by the Ministry of Health, and undergo continuous training to access and update new issues related to biomedical ethics.
