What requirements must measuring instruments in the military meet?

Circular 02/2019/TT-BQP has been issued by the Ministry of National Defense regulating measurement activities in the fields of military and defense.

Measuring instruments used in the fields of military and national defense are subject to strict control over measurement technical requirements and must meet the following requirements:

- Basic measurement technical requirements must be indicated on the measuring instrument or accompanying documents;- The technical characteristics of the measuring instruments must comply with the measurement technical requirements as determined by the specialized management agency or unit, or as stipulated by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality;- The structure of the measuring instruments must ensure prevention of interference that would result in skewed measurement results.

Additionally, Circular 02 also sets forth 05 measures for measurement control of measuring instruments, specifically:

- Model approval during manufacturing, upgrading, procurement, or importation;- Initial verification or calibration prior to commissioning;- Regular verification, calibration, or technical measurement inspection during usage;- Verification, calibration, or technical measurement inspection after repairs or upgrades;- Verification, calibration, or technical measurement inspection upon request.
