Steps to Take After Sampling to Determine Respiratory Dust Concentration

Circular 02/2019/TT-BYT has been promulgated by the Ministry of Health to issue national technical regulations on dust - Permissible exposure limits for 05 dust factors in the workplace.

After conducting sampling to determine the concentration of respirable dust by the gravimetric method, the following tasks must be performed:

- Remove the external adhesive tape from the cassette, open the cassette, gently take out the filter paper, and place it into the corresponding inner bag.- Dry the inner bag containing the filter paper at a temperature of 50°C for 2 hours.- Weigh the inner bag containing the filter paper immediately after removing it from the drying oven, and record the weight, P' (mg). Also, weigh the filter paper used as a control.- Record the condition of the filter paper: Normal, dust overload, punctured, torn, wet, etc.- Note: Weigh the sample using the same scale and by the same person.- For every batch of 10 filter papers, at least 2 filter papers should be reserved as controls; these filter papers should also be taken to the field but not sampled.

See calculation guidelines at Circular 02/2019/TT-BYT effective from September 22, 2019.
