Protected Transportation Infrastructure

Transportation works are economic - technical facilities that are part of the infrastructure, playing an important role in the national economic development effort, contributing to national defense, security, and the people's livelihood. So, according to legal regulations, which transportation works are protected?

According to the provisions in Article 11 of the Ordinance on Protection of Transportation Works 1994, the transportation works protected include:

  1. Road works: roads, bridges, culverts, tunnels, urban sidewalks, ferry terminals, bus stations, drainage systems, signposts, and other ancillary works and equipment;

  2. River works: channels for ships and boats on rivers, lakes, canals, and along bays; boat docks, embankments, dams, ports, wharves, warehouses, signal buoys, and other ancillary works and equipment;

  3. Railway works: tracks, bridges, tunnels, culverts, stations, warehouses, signal information systems, and other ancillary works and equipment.

At the same time, this Ordinance stipulates that the scope of protection for transportation works includes: the works themselves; the protection corridor of the works; the airspace, underground areas, and underwater areas related to the safety of the works and the safety of transportation operations.

Outside the scope of protection for transportation works, construction and all other activities must not harm the safety of the works.
