Promulgation of New Policy on the Prevention and Countering of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction

Policy on prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction newly issued by the Government of Vietnam in Decree 81/2019/ND-CP as follows:

- The State facilitates the development of initiatives to prevent the research, development, production, storage, and use of weapons of mass destruction and strictly punishes any acts of proliferation and financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; employs comprehensive measures to organize the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; propagates, mobilizes organizations and individuals to participate in the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in accordance with the provisions of this Decree and relevant laws.- The State has policies to support research activities, application of scientific and technological achievements serving the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; invests in equipment, technical means, operations, and ensures policies for the forces responsible for the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction according to relevant legal regulations.- The State has policies and measures to protect organizations and individuals in the process of participating in the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; in the event of injury, health damage, or loss of life, the individual or their relatives will receive benefits according to legal provisions. Organizations and individuals whose assets are mobilized for the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, if damaged, shall be compensated in accordance with relevant legal regulations.- Organizations and individuals with achievements in the prevention and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction are rewarded according to the law on emulation and commendation.
