Library Law 2019: 06 Prohibited Acts in Library Operations

Currently, the library is a cultural, informational, educational, and scientific institution responsible for the construction, processing, storage, preservation, and provision of information resources to meet the needs of users. According to Article 8Law on Libraries 2019, six prohibited behaviors in library activities are listed. To be specific:

- Abusing library activities to distort the guidelines, policies, and laws of the State, oppose the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; divide the great national unity bloc; incite violence, fuel hatred between ethnic groups and religions; promote aggressive warfare; ruin traditional customs and practices; spread superstitions; lure library users into social evils.- Providing information resources that are state secrets, except as otherwise provided by law.- Restricting the right of access and use of information resources by library users contrary to the provisions of law.- Providing information about library users, except as requested by a competent state authority.- Appropriating, substituting, destroying, or damaging information resources.- Illegally accessing the library information system and library database; altering, interrupting, or sabotaging the library information system and library database.
