Knowledge and responsibilities required upon graduation from the college of veterinary medicine in Vietnam

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) of Vietnam issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation from intermediate or college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary science.

Minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for learners after graduation from intermediate and college levels in veterinary medicine are regulated in Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH as follows:

- Demonstrate basic foundational knowledge of the field regarding: Anatomy and physiology of livestock, animal genetics, livestock breeds;

- Demonstrate basic knowledge of pharmacology, immunology, veterinary microbiology in specialized activities;

- Demonstrate knowledge of infectious diseases, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and parasitology;

- Demonstrate knowledge of epidemiology, veterinary hygiene, food safety hygiene, veterinary product inspection, zoonotic diseases, and veterinary legislation;

- Demonstrate basic knowledge in designing and implementing research topics in the field of veterinary medicine;

- Demonstrate basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, physical education, and informatics as regulated.

Furthermore, the regulation regarding the minimum autonomy and responsibility learners must achieve is as follows:

- Possess good moral character and correct professional awareness, demonstrate cooperative attitude with colleagues, respect for the law, and regulations at the workplace;

- Be honest and highly disciplined, have the ability to work independently, ready to undertake assigned tasks, produce high-quality and productive work;

- Work independently or in groups, solve complex tasks and issues in changing work conditions;

- Cooperate well with colleagues in performing tasks and solving real-life situations;

- Guide and supervise others in performing designated tasks. Accept personal and group responsibility;

- Evaluate the quality of work after completion and the performance of group members.
