How to Handle Unauthorized Access to Radioactive Sources

This is a noteworthy content stipulated in Circular 01/2019/TT-BKHCN regulating the security assurance of radioactive sources, issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology on May 30, 2019.

Circular 01/2019/TT-BKHCN stipulates that organizations and individuals, upon discovering unauthorized access to radioactive sources or intent to seize or sabotage radioactive sources, must:

- Promptly apply response measures, investigate causes, and find remedial measures;- Within 08 hours of discovering the incident: notify the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety, the provincial-level State management agency in charge of science and technology where the incident occurred, and the nearest Police agency in writing or by fax or telephone;- Within 05 working days of discovering the incident: send a written report to the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety, the provincial-level State management agency in charge of science and technology where the incident occurred, and the nearest Police agency.
