How much is the fine for riding a motorbike on the highway?

According to the guidance in Decree 46/2016/ND-CP, the act of drivers driving their vehicles into the highway area may be fined up to 7 million VND. Specifically, the corresponding fines for each violation are as follows:

A fine ranging from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND applies to: Pedestrians entering the highway, except for those serving the management and maintenance of the highway.

A fine ranging from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND applies to:

- Cyclists, electric bicycle riders, and drivers of other rudimentary vehicles entering the highway, except for vehicles serving the management and maintenance of the highway.

- Drivers, animal handlers, and animal-drawn vehicle drivers who enter the highway illegally.

- Operators of tractors and special-purpose vehicles who do not comply with regulations when entering or exiting the highway; driving on the emergency lane or the shoulder of the highway; making U-turns or reversing on the highway; changing lanes at unauthorized locations or without prior signaling when driving on the highway; not adhering to the safe distance regulations with the vehicle in front while driving on the highway. Additionally, the driver's license (when operating a tractor) and the certificate of road traffic law knowledge (when operating a special-purpose vehicle) may be revoked for 1-3 months.

A fine ranging from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND applies to: Motorbike drivers who drive onto the highway, except for vehicles serving the management and maintenance of the highway. Additionally, their driver's license may be revoked for 1-3 months; if a traffic accident is caused, the driver's license may be revoked for 2-4 months.

A fine ranging from 2,000,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND applies to: Operators of tractors and special-purpose vehicles who do not comply with regulations regarding stopping or parking on the highway; failing to immediately place warning signs as prescribed when stopping or parking on the highway. Additionally, their driver's license (when operating a tractor) or the certificate of road traffic law knowledge (when operating a special-purpose vehicle) may be revoked for 1-3 months.

A fine ranging from 5,000,000 VND to 7,000,000 VND applies to: Operators of special-purpose vehicles with a design speed of less than 70 km/h or tractors entering the highway, except for vehicles and equipment serving the management and maintenance of the highway. If a traffic accident is caused or another violation is committed, the driver's license (when operating a tractor) or the certificate of road traffic law knowledge (when operating a special-purpose vehicle) may be revoked for 2-4 months.

These contents are specified in Articles 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 of Decree 46/2016/ND-CP, which takes effect from August 1, 2016.
