Circular 42/2017/TT-BQP has been issued by the Ministry of National Defense to amend and supplement Circular 17/2016/TT-BQP, which provides detailed regulations and guidelines for the recruitment process into military schools. This document takes effect from April 14, 2017.

- For schools assigned an enrollment quota of more than 100, the direct admission rate must not exceed 3% of the quota; for schools assigned an enrollment quota of 100 or less, the direct admission rate must not exceed 5% of the quota;- For specific academies: Military Technical Academy, Military Medical Academy, Military Science Academy, Air Defense - Air Force Academy (Aviation Engineering training program) and Air Force Officer School (Military Pilot training program), direct admission is not yet applied for the subjects specified in Clause 2 Article 78 of Circular 17.
