Forms of Implementation for Maritime Channel Maintenance

On November 28, 2018, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 159/2018/ND-CP specifying the form of performing maritime channel maintenance.

According to Decree 159, the maintenance of public maritime channels and inland waterway channels using state budget funds includes:

Simultaneously, Decree 159 stipulates that the Ministry of Transport has the authority to:

- Decide on the method of maintenance dredging for public maritime channels and national inland waterway channels;- Specify details for sub-contracted maintenance dredging to maintain standards within a determined period and emergency maintenance dredging to ensure traffic safety.

Provincial People's Committees decide specifically on the method of maintenance dredging for local inland waterway channels.
