Ordinance on Organization of Military Courts 2002 was promulgated on November 4, 2002. One of the basic provisions stipulated in this document is the duties and powers of the Chief Justice of the Central Military Court.

To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 24 of the Ordinance on the Organization of Military Courts 2002, the Chief Justice of the Central Military Court has the following duties and powers:
- Organize the adjudication work;- Preside over the meetings of the Judges Committee of the Central Military Court;- Appeal according to the cassation procedures against the judgments and decisions that have taken legal effect of subordinate military courts in accordance with procedural law;- Organize professional training for Judges, Military Jurors, and officers of the military courts;- Organize the inspection of the work of subordinate military courts;- Report on the work of military courts to the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court and the Minister of National Defense;- Perform other tasks as prescribed by law.
The Deputy Chief Justice of the Central Military Court assists the Chief Justice in performing tasks as assigned by the Chief Justice. When the Chief Justice is absent, a Deputy Chief Justice is authorized by the Chief Justice to represent and lead the work of the Court. The Deputy Chief Justice is responsible to the Chief Justice for the assigned tasks.
