Recently, the Government of Vietnam has issued Decree No. 71/2007/NĐ-CP detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on information technology regarding information technology industry.
According to Clause 1 Article 21 of Decree No. 71/2007/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, an information technology park with specified geographical boundaries must meet the following conditions:
- Having at least 300 laborers, or at least 500 laborers for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, directly working at information technology industry establishments;
- Having at least half of its ground area occupied by information technology industry establishments and their accompanying equipment
- Having common infrastructures to ensure- information technology industry activities, such as meeting: rooms, seminar rooms, and specialized facilities and equipment to ensure those activities.
Besides, the Ministry of Post and Telematics shall formulate and promulgate regulations on the order and procedures for consideration of and recognition as information technology parks. Provincial/municipal People's Committees shall recognize or cancel information technology parks on the basis of the conditions specified above.
