Admission to Specialized Schools' Initial Classes Requires Passing 02 Rounds of Exams

This is a noteworthy content mentioned by the Ministry of Education and Training in Circular 12/2014/TT-BGDDT amending and supplementing Article 23 and Article 24 of the Regulation on the organization and operation of specialized high schools issued with Circular 06/2012/TT-BGDDT.

When conducting admission to the first specialized class, it is mandatory to go through two exam rounds as specified in Circular 12/2014/TT-BGDDT as follows:

Round 1: Pre-qualification for students with valid application dossiers and eligibility as per regulations of the Department of Education and Training, universities managing specialized schools.

Pre-qualification to select students for the second round examination is based on the following criteria:

- Results of participation in social activities, talent competitions organized locally, nationally, regionally, and internationally;- Results of conduct and academic performance evaluations over 4 years of lower secondary school;- Results of lower secondary school graduation;- Results of assessments of intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional quotient (EQ), adversity quotient (AQ), and other intellectual assessment indicators (if any evaluations are conducted).

Round 2: Conducting examinations for students who have passed the pre-qualification in Round 1.

The examination can be organized independently or in conjunction with the annual entrance examination to the first class of upper secondary school.

- The direct managing authority of the specialized school stipulates: exam subjects, examination format, and duration of each exam subject for different specialized classes; point coefficient for exam papers, admission points for specialized and non-specialized classes within the specialized school;- The head of the direct managing authority of the specialized school issues decisions to establish committees for the creation of exam questions, invigilation, assessment, and re-evaluation;- The organization of creating exam questions, invigilation, and assessment is implemented under the current upper secondary school graduation examination regulations;- The head of the direct managing authority of the specialized school approves the list of students admitted to the specialized school.
