On March 11, 2019, the Ministry of Transport issued Circular No. 10/2019/TT-BGTVT on regulations regarding disaster prevention and control in the maritime sector.
The mitigation of natural disaster consequences is very important to ensure the livelihood of the people and to protect the marine environment. To be specific, Circular 10/2019/TT-BGTVT provides regulations on maritime disaster mitigation tasks as follows:
- Rescue and search for missing persons, ships, and other property.- Rectify damaged maritime port infrastructure, equipment, transport means, and safety structures.- Repair construction machinery and undertake measures to restore production.- Repair and restore the communication system.- Conduct environmental sanitation, prevent environmental pollution, combat epidemics, and support and stabilize the lives of employees and people in disaster-stricken areas.- Collect and evaluate the damages caused by natural disasters and report and review for lessons learned.- Estimate the budget, make payments, and settle costs for disaster mitigation.
Circular 10/2019/TT-BGTVT is effective from May 1, 2019.
