07 Requirements for Natural Disaster Prevention When Vessels Journey at Sea

This content is detailed in Circular 10/2019/TT-BGTVT stipulating the prevention and control of natural disasters in the maritime sector.

When vessels navigate at sea, they must meet the following disaster prevention requirements:

- Must comply with regulations on disaster prevention and control for vessels;- Implement policies to receive daily weather reports to promptly grasp the developments of the disaster;- Timely bring vessels to mooring areas to avoid and shelter from storms in accordance with the class of the vessel and the technical condition of machinery and equipment;- Reasonably maneuver to avoid and shelter from storms, limiting the impact of disasters on people, vessels, and cargo;- Pump and reasonably adjust ballast tanks, oil tanks, and water tanks to ensure the stability of vessels;- Prohibit unauthorized personnel from entering areas where waves may wash over the deck;- When working on deck, at least two people must wear life jackets and secure safety ropes.
